Sgraffito Collection
The word Sgraffito comes from the Italian word graffiare which means to scratch. It was popularized in 15th Century in Italy.
Each piece is lightly sketched out using a pencil. Next I fill in detail using underglazes. I then fill in around the drawing with black underglaze then scratch through the surface creating the leaf pattern and straight lines. Finally each of these pieces are fired in a wood or soda kiln that shade my fish and Luna Moth drawings.
